ขุนเขาสูงล้ำค้ำฟ้า ตระหง่านเงื้อมประดุจภูผาปราการเป็นแหล่งกำเนิดของพืชพันธุ์เฉพาะถิ่นหลากหลาย ให้ผู้คนค้นหาคุณค่าป่าดงดิบอันพิสุทธิ์ของแดนใต้ใครจะเชื่อว่า ถ้าบินได้ดั่งนกแล้วมองดูเขาสกที่อยู่เบื้องล่าง อาจเผลอนึกไปได้ว่านี่คือกุ้ยหลินเมืองไทยที่ไม่ต้องบินไปดูไกลถึงเมืองจีน
วันเวลาที่แนะนำ ฤดูที่เหมาะสมกับการไปเที่ยวป่าเขาสกคือระหว่างเดือนธันวาคม – เมษายน
การเดินทาง จากตัวจังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานีใช้เส้นทางหมายเลข 401ซึ่งเชื่อมกับอำเภอตะกั่วป่าผ่านอุทยาน ฯ เขาสกระยะทางราว 100 กม.
เขาสก
อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาสก ตั้งอยู่ในเขตอำเภอศีรีรัฐนิคม อำเภอพนม และอำเภอบ้านตาขุน จังหวัดสุราษฎร์ธานี เป็นส่วนหนึ่งของป่าดิบชื้นผืนใหญ่ที่สุดในภาคใต้ ภูมิประเทศส่วนใหญ่เป็นเขาหินปูนสลับซับซ้อนเต็มไปด้วยหุบลีก ร่องลำธาร ถ้ำ และน้ำตก อุดมสมบูรณ์ด้วยพรรณไม้หายากระดับโลกหลายชนิด เช่น ปาล์มหลังขาว หมากพระราหู กระพ้อสี่สิบ บัวผุด ฯลฯ และมีนกป่าอาศัยอยู่กว่า 155 ชนิด ใจกลางผืนป่าเขาสกคือเขื่อนรัชชประกา (เขื่อนเชี่ยวหลาน) ซึ่งเกิดจากการกั้นลำน้ำคลองแสงจนเกิดทัศนียภาพของทะเลสาบขนาดใหญ่กว่า 1 แสนไร่ และเกาะหลายร้อยเกาะ ที่เหมาะจะผจญภัยเดินป่า พายเรือ ว่ายน้ำเล่น ดูนก และศึกษาพรรณไม้หลายชนิด
